*****

“Nooo!”

Stark determination set in eyes of pure green, ran full speed toward him. Ella’s scream came out of nowhere, ricocheting off the chiseled rock walls. Outstretched body streamlined in midair, wild red hair poured out behind her.

Aleksander experienced a degree of terror as he’d never felt before.

With his lower half dead until the transition completed, age-old fear reached up and grabbed him by the balls. Fixated by the events in motion, he could only look on, horrified, as Ella threw her soft body between him and the rebel’s lusty sword.

If the weapon didn’t kill him, a heart attack would.

Distracted by her shriek and flying body, the Satyr’s shocked reaction slowed the inertia of his sword arm’s descent. Just as Ella landed, Aleksander caught her against his chest. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and spun her body violently before the rest of her weight descended.

Both of his hands at her waist, air expelled from his lungs in a rush. His human legs were nearly formed and he was able to toss one over her thigh to protect as much of her as he could from the slash to come. Ella used his thrown leg as part of the impetus to rotate them, her Troll strength surprising his Centaur nature.

The Satyr’s arm continued to drop.

The sword fell with it.

Monstrous fear snapped through him and exploded to larger proportions. He gripped her body tighter and fought to turn them faster, to place himself directly in the path of steel death. Anguish spread in numbing degrees as he waited for her last breath to fall.

No! Not Ella! Her sweet, terrified face wore a familiar mask of stubbornness. At the thought of losing her, something panged deep inside. He didn’t understand half of why she would risk her life for him, but Alek knew Ella to be in more danger than himself if she were above him, baring her back to the blade.

As if the gods heard his tortured plea, the ground split beneath them.

Opened up. . .

. . .and swallowed them whole.

Liz Crowe - the final book in her Stewart Realty Series

This is it. The final book in Liz Crowe's Stewart Realty Series. Sad to see it end, but can't wait to read the grand finale!

Back cover blurb:

Strong personalities—volatile marriages—stressful careers—conflicting goals—difficult children.

Contemporary challenges facing close-knit families form the crucible that forges a new generation.

Brandis, Gabriel, Blair and Lillian emerge from the entanglement of their parents’ longstanding emotional connections, but one’s star will burn brighter – and hotter – than the others.

With a personality that consumes everyone and everything in its path, Brandis Gordon struggles to maintain control as he ricochets between wild success and miserable failure. His life proves how even the strongest relationships can be strangled by the ties that bind.

Brandis and Gabe Frietag are as close as any brothers, bound by both loyalty and fierce rivalry. The strength of their ultimate alliance is tested time and again by Brandis’ choices.

Companions from birth, Blair Frietag and Lillian Robinson share loner tendencies, but come to rely on each other through adolescence. As they mature, both are forced to confront their feelings for the men they knew as boys.

Somewhere between the tangle of good memories and bad, independence and addiction, optimism and despair, the intertwined destinies of the new generation finally collide, leaving some stronger, others broken, but none unscathed.

As a chronicle of three families navigating the minefields of teen years into the turbulence of young adulthood, Good Faith holds up a literary mirror to contemporary life with joys and temptations unflinchingly reflected. Its fresh, real-life voice portrays the sheer volatility of human nature, complete with the hopes, dreams, and unexpected setbacks of marriage, parenthood and “coming of age.”

About Liz Crowe

Amazon best-selling author, beer blogger and beer marketing expert, mom of three, and soccer fan, Liz lives in the great Midwest, in a major college town.  She has decades of experience in sales and fund raising, plus an eight-year stint as a three-continent, ex-pat trailing spouse. While working as a successful Realtor, Liz made the leap into writing novels about the same time she agreed to take on marketing and sales for the Wolverine State Brewing Company.

Most days find her sweating inventory and sales figures for the brewery, unless she’s writing, editing or sweating promotional efforts for her latest publications.

Her early forays into the publishing world led to a groundbreaking fiction subgenre, “Romance for Real Life,” which has gained thousands of fans and followers interested less in the “HEA” and more in the “WHA” (“What Happens After?”).  More recently she is garnering even more fans across genres with her latest novels, which are more character-driven fiction, while remaining very much “real life.”

With stories set in the not-so-common worlds of breweries, on the soccer pitch, in successful real estate offices and many times in exotic locales like Istanbul, Turkey, her books are unique and told with a fresh voice. The Liz Crowe backlist has something for any reader seeking complex storylines with humor and complete casts of characters that will delight, frustrate, and linger in the imagination long after the book is finished.

If you are in the Ann Arbor area, be sure and stop into the Wolverine State Brewing Co. Tap Room—but don’t ask her for anything “like” a Bud Light, or risk serious injury.

Friday Flames goes Electric!

Welcome to Friday Flames…
…where the romance always burns HOT!

Today my guest is Stacey Brutger

Thank you for having me on your blog! I hope you enjoy this little peek into my deliciously dark urban fantasy, Electric Moon.

Electric Moon –A Raven Investigations Novel : Book 2

Blurb:

DURING THE FULL MOON, A KILLER STALKS FOR PREY AMONGST THE SHIFTERS. TEMPERS RISE, LUST EXPLODES, AND ONE WOMAN IS THE CENTER OF IT ALL.

Raven’s private life explodes into the spotlight when she is nominated as a Region on the paranormal police force. As she juggles the demands of pack life and police work, the lines between duty and loyalty blur. Shifters are dying. Raven suspects something sinister is destroying the pack from within. She must dig into the dark corners of the paranormal world, secrets they would kill to protect, and find the killer before her pack becomes the next target.

Excerpt:
Durant opened the door to his office. Raven went to step through when he quickly closed it on her, shutting her in the hallway with him. He crowded into her space, placing a hand on the wall by her head, blocking her avenues of escape. “How about we play a game? For every kiss, I’ll answer one of your questions.”

Heat poured off him, tempting her to give into him, anything to just be able to touch him. Thoughts became clouded. He leaned closer, his lips hovering so over hers. “Say yes.”

She tore her gaze from his lips and met his stare. “You want this?”

She hadn’t meant to sound so breathless. Hadn’t meant to reveal her need. It’d been so long since she’d been able to be close to someone. She wasn’t sure she could say no when she wanted that connection so badly.

“More than anything.” Durant didn’t smile, didn’t move in anyway. The power of him bunched under his skin, waiting for her to say no.

“And you’ll stop at any time?”

His throat bobbed painfully, and he gave a curt nod.

She bit her lip, and a groan rumbled in his chest before he could prevent it.

“One question for one kiss.”

Durant nodded again.

“And we’ll put on a timer.” It would keep her from getting lost in the moment. Prevent her from taking too much.

“Anything you want.”

She closed her eyes, her breathing a little too fast, leaving her lightheaded.

Or maybe that was just him.

“Teach me.”

The door shot open, and she was shoved inside in under a second. Raven whirled to see Durant very deliberately lock the door. She swallowed hard, her heart pounding as excitement and dread tumbled through her.

Durant rested his forehead on the door, struggling for control, presenting her with a very drool worthy line of his back and ass. She licked her lips, the sight of him so pushed to the edge, calming her. She no longer felt like prey.

“I need you to do something for me.”

She traced her fingertips against her lips, still able to feel his breath on them. Could almost taste him. It solidified her decision. “Of course.”

“In the bottom right hand side of my desk, you’ll find a box of confiscated items from the club. Grab two handcuffs and bring them to me.”

Doubts began to edge their way into her mind, cooling her thoughts. “Durant—”

“Please.”

Raven hesitated, but the wealth of emotions in his voice changed her mind. He didn’t ask anyone for anything. Ever. He just took or demanded and people obeyed.

She opened the drawer, hating the way her hand shook. She trusted him.

Didn’t she?

She pulled out two metal mismatched cuffs with the keys tied to them and walked toward him. “Here.”

She thrusted out the cuffs, half-expecting to feel cold metal slip around her wrist. Instead, he clamped them on his own. He caught her hand, pried open her fingers and gently placed the keys in her palm.

Angelic Friday Flames

Welcome to Friday Flames!

Starting us off today is
Charlayne Elizabeth Denney

Excerpt from Lilly’s Angel:

“So, there are places where I shouldn’t explore on you? What other areas are ticklish so I can avoid those, the giggling seems to slow my sexual responses down a bit.”

Lilly raised up on one elbow and smiled. “You didn’t know that? Sully, you’re not very experienced at this, are you?” As beautiful as he was, it was hard for her to believe that he was new to sex.

“No, I’m afraid not. I’ve watched enough but I’ve never participated.” he tried returning the smile, not something easy to do. He didn’t know why he was feeling so timid around her now; it wasn’t like they were new to each other. But his emotions were in a jumble, he didn’t know where to start, what to do, and how to act with her with this new situation. His head spun, he was having trouble thinking, but his genitals were straining so hard he was almost unable to think of anything but taking her down on her back and screwing her to the bed. Then he shook his head, wondering again where that thought had come from and why the image of her under him was so strong.

“You’ve watched. You have never made love to a woman.” she said quietly, taking in what he was telling her.

“No, I’ve never made love to a woman. Or a man either, for that matter. This is, I’m afraid, an all new experience for me. I was hoping that having watched would have made it easier to do but obviously I have not either observed enough to find out how or I’m missing something.” Talking about having sex was beginning to take care of that strained feeling in his groin.

“Oh, ok, you’re a virgin. I’ve dealt with this before. I know exactly how to handle it.” she smiled at him, not seeming to mind at all that he was telling her how new he was to sex. This also baffled him. “What we need to do is trade places. You need to slip those trousers off further, get rid of them, and then lay down here on the bed. I’ll show you what to do.” She talked to him softly, sitting up and guiding his hand down to the pants around his knees as she slid away from him and got to her feet on the floor. She put out a hand and helped him stumble out of the bed and kept him from face-planting as he got tangled up in the offending pants.

He stepped out of them and then turned to her. He reached out with the intention of putting his hands on her waist, pulling her to him, and starting to kiss her again. Even looking at her naked, standing in front of him made him stiffen in total lust.

She took his hands and turned him, pushing him back to the bed. He backed up against it and waivered. “Go head, lay down. Let me guide you through this. I promise it will be good.” she purred.

Nothing of her training back in Mahogany Hall had left her; she still knew how to please even the shyest of men. She held his hand as he laid down and tried to arrange himself for her. She reached down and took the pillows, fluffing them and then handing them to him. He leaned up and put them behind his head. She was touching him on his chest as he was doing this, running her fingers through the fine, dark hair there. Once he was settled, she pulled herself onto the bed beside him, half laying on his left side, and started running her hands through his hair and nibbling, kissing his ear gently, pulling his earlobe with her teeth.

He started to turn his head and kiss her but she put her hand on his face and stopped him, “Let me.” she whispered into his ear with a small kiss.
